President Nguyen Xuan Phuc meets with the Vietnam Economic Science Association
 

On February 22, 2022, at the Presidential Palace, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with scientists and experts from the Vietnam Economic Science Association.

The State President praised the contributions of the Vietnam Association of Economic Sciences to the country over the past 50 years. The President said that, since 1990, with members who are reputable economists, the Association has constantly improved the quality of its activities, contributed ideas to improve policies and economy in the process of Doi Moi and integration. of the country, especially the shift from a centralized and subsidized economy to a socialist-oriented market economy.

In recent years, along with promoting scientific research and disseminating economic knowledge, the Association has well performed consulting, commenting and policy criticism. In particular, the Association has mobilized the broad participation of economic researchers, effectively contributed to two tasks of research, consulting on development perspectives and policy solutions, formulating development strategies, and contributing to the development of economic development. 10-year socio-economic development from 2021 - 2030, 5-year socio-economic development plan 2021 - 2025, the process of preparing documents of the 13th Party Congress.

The President said that in the position of Prime Minister for the 2016-2021 term; had many opportunities to work and listen to the enthusiastic and quality suggestions of experts and scientists of the Vietnam Association of Economic Sciences. Many opinions are of important quality in the formulation and implementation of the Government's annual and medium-term economic development strategies, plans, schemes and policies.

Recognizing and appreciating the profound and quality contributions of researchers, experts and intellectuals at the meeting, the President said that the opinions were diverse, deeply referring to the make a breakthrough in economic development, continue to remove institutional "bottlenecks", escape the middle-income trap; realize the aspiration to build a powerful country: By 2045, it will become a developed and high-income country.

Experts also suggested promoting innovation to move the country forward in the new context, effectively implementing the resolution of the 13th Party Congress. Besides, promoting the spirit of shock and overcoming difficulties of enterprises, stronger reform of the business environment; domestic policies and foreign investment, innovating growth models to increase labor productivity; do not criminalize economic and civil relations...

The President proposed the Vietnam Economic Science Association to gather more famous and prestigious economists at home and abroad; continue to promote the position and role; make more contributions to the country's important economic policy making.

The President believes that, with a team of highly qualified scientists who are dedicated to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, the Vietnam Economic Science Association will grow stronger and stronger, achieving many achievements. great achievements in scientific research; make practical contributions to the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country.

The President assigned the Office of the President to summarize the opinions expressed in the meeting to propose and report to the competent authorities for research, selection and absorption. Experts and scientists also expressed their wish to have more opportunities for the President to meet periodically, exchange and listen to enthusiastic opinions, and contribute to the rich people and strong country.
