The 6th Congress of the Vietnam Economic  Association 

(2021-2026)

On April 16, 2021, in Hanoi, the 6th Congress of the Vietnam Economic Science Association took place with the participation of more than 100 delegates from the Central Committee of the Association, branches, localities, academical institutes, universities and affiliated units.

The Congress approved the report summarizing the work of the V term (2013 - 2020) and the direction of the VI term (2021 - 2026).

During the V term, the Association has promoted scientific research, disseminated economic knowledge, and performed well in consulting, policy assessment and recommendation.

Regarding the direction of activities in the VI term (2021 - 2026), the Congress is expected to have the following tasks:
- Promote scientific research to improve the quality of consulting work, especially combining basic and applied scientific research. There must be many scientific works published at home and abroad, books published.
- Promote consulting, assessment and policy recommendations to meet the requirements of economic sectors and localities. Especially participating in the process of implementing the National Strategy and the next five-year socio-economic development plan.
- Consolidate and develop quality organizations under the Vietnam Economic Association.
- Continue to promote international cooperation activities within the framework of the International Economic Association (IEA), the Federation of ASEAN Economic Associations (FAEA) and bilateral relations.

The Congress elected the Central Committee of the Association for the sixth term (2021-2026) with 51 members.
Professor Tran Phuong, the Founder and the President of the Association for the past 45 years (1975-2021) was unanimously honored by the Congress as the Emeritus Chairman of the Vietnam Economic Association.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Thai was elected as the President of the Association for the 6th term (2021-2026).
The Association's Standing Committee includes:

The Congress approved the amended and supplemented Charter of the Association.
